Generic name indexes in the data sheet compendium and in MIMS

Abstract

Regulations under the Medicines Act which will require drug compendia to include generic (non-proprietary) name indexes are now being drafted and the 1978 Data Sheet Compendium which has just been distributed is the first to have such an index. Unfortunately, it does not give page numbers, and this forces users to consult the brand-name index as well. The ABPI say that there has been insufficient time to prepare an index with page numbers, but we hope that they will be able to do so next year.
