Abstract

A child born to a woman with epilepsy has an increased risk of malformation,14 and this risk is increased further if the mother is taking an antiepileptic drug.5,6 In the last issue of the Drug and Therapeutics Bulletin7 we discussed the use of antiepileptic drugs in the general population. Here we discuss their use in women who are pregnant or planning pregnancy.
