New sunscreen preparations

Abstract

People with normal white skin, who require protection from the sun, need a topical agent which absorbs in the ‘sunburn’ part of the ultraviolet region (wavelengths 290 – 320 nm). Those people who show abnormal sensitivity to sunlight may react to similar wavelengths, or to longer wavelengths which on normal skin cause no reaction. Sunscreen preparations are therefore required for two distinct purposes.
