Stronger analgesics with low risk of dependence - buprenorphine, ▾ meptazinol and ▾ nalbuphine

Abstract

Three strong analgesics are now available which are less liable to cause dependence than morphine or similar drugs. Buprenorphine (Temgesic - Reckitt & Colman)1,2 made as a sublingual tablet or injection; meptazinol (Meptid - Wyeth) as a tablet to be swallowed or injection and nalbuphine (Nubain - Du Pont) as an injection only.
