Abstract

Last year we reviewed simvastatin,¹ which lowers total and low-density-lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) in plasma by competitively inhibiting the rate-limiting enzyme in cholesterol synthesis, HMG CoA reductase, in the liver. Pravastatin (Lipostat – Bristol-Myers Squibb) is a similar drug.
