How to anticoagulate

Abstract

Earlier this year we discussed the diagnosis, prevention and, briefly, treatment of venous thrombosis.1 This article looks at the procedures for anticoagulation in detail. All too often it is done badly,2 leaving patients under- or over-anticoagulated. To achieve optimum therapy there needs to be a clear policy implemented by doctors and patients working together.
