Diet for peptic ulcer?

Abstract

In earlier articles we concluded that antacids relieve the pain of peptic ulcer but do not influence the rate of healing.1 2 Perhaps because patients with stomachache tend to blame their food, physicians also often prescribe a diet. About fifty years ago Sippy began to use frequent milk feeds to buffer gastric acid, and modified Sippy diets based on milk, cream, steamed fish and purees3 were widely adopted. Though tests have failed to show that such diets help to hasten ulcer healing or to relieve symptoms they are still used.
