Abstract

We regret that we wrongly described the clinical trial by Esmann et al¹¹. This compared two groups of patients, both given acyclovir for 7 days. One group in addition received prednisolone, and the other received placebo. The addition of prednisolone did not reduce the incidence and intensity of post-herpetic neuralgia. Neither acyclovir nor prednisolone appears to affect this.
